今回の路上演劇は、東京での路上演劇祭と連携しながらおこなわれている浜松の路上演劇祭実行委員会が招聘したふたりのメキシコ人俳優による約25分の演劇作品です。28日に宮下公園で上演できないかと打診があり、29日の夜に打ち合わせをし、5月30日（日）16時〜から原宿側のジャングルジムの辺りで上演しました。
告知にもありましたが、メキシコを代表する画家、フリーダ・カーロとディエゴ・リべラの関係をイメージしたパフォーマンスで、ディエゴのフリーダに対する「愛」と、フリーダの苦難を描いています。とくに「わたしは溺れそうだった。でも、自分で泳ぐことを覚えた。」というフリーダの日記の記述に触発されて制作された作品です。
フリーダ役のアレハンドラは、フリーダ・カーロの肖像が描かれた赤い衣装に、メキシコの路上演劇でよくつかわれる高足（竹馬を脚にくくりつけたようなもの）を履き、ディエゴ役のロドリゴに担がれて、倉庫テント（現在インフォセンター）の陰から登場。砂場脇を通って近づいてくる鮮やかなふたり。公園は一瞬で舞台に変わりました。
樹から樹へ洗濯ロープが張られ、劇中、幼くして患った病と事故の後遺症に生涯苦しめられたフリーダのレントゲン写真が、洗濯物を干すようにディエゴによってロープに掛けられ、フリーダは大きな絵筆をふるいます。高足で不安定に歩んでいたフリーダが倒れ、ディエゴによって受け止められ、高足が外されます。
自分の足で立ったフリーダ。踊るふたり。その時、時が止まり、フリーダはディエゴの腕をすり抜けて、ひとりでしっかりした足取りで歩むのですが、やがてディエゴのもとに戻ってゆく…。
終演後、俳優を囲んでのアフタートークがおこなわれ、気温が下がるなか、20人ほどの人が残ってくださいました。はじめに作品について出演したふたりに簡単に紹介してもらい、その後は観客の質問に答える形で進められました。幸いスペイン語の堪能な友人がその場で通訳を引き受けてくれました
主にメキシコでの路上演劇の状況やふたりの活動について、そして作品にかかわる感想と質問がありました。メキシコでも基本的に路上での上演は許可を取らないと規制されるが、彼らは道行く人に観てもらえる路上での上演を続けていること。また、観客からディエゴとフリーダの関係の解釈について、ディエゴがフリーダを導き解放したという描き方になっていたが、ディエゴはフリーダを利用したのではなかったかとの違和感についても率直に投げかけられました。
最後に彼らはメキシコにはまだ多くのディエゴとフリーダがおり、彼らに語りかけたいのだと話していました。
5月はじめに、メキシコから東京の路上演劇祭を見に来ていた俳優、演出家、オーガナイザーのギジェルモ・ディアス・マドリッド氏が宮下を訪れて、A.I.R.の運動に賛同して、若いふたりの俳優につなげてくれたことが今回の緊急上演につながりました。とても良い形でつながったこと、—運動の趣旨を彼らなりに理解し、表現を通じて賛同の意を表してくれたこと、そのことがまた彼ら自身の表現活動にも意味のある経験になったこと—がとてもうれしかった。
原宿側から階段を上がってきた通りすがりの人も足を止めてくれたり、告知期間がほとんどなかったのに寒いなか熱心にアフタートークに参加してくれた観客がいたり、本来ゲリラ的に出現する路上演劇が、路上演劇として成立していた稀有な状況だったと思います。
それは、公園が彼らの表現によって異なる時空に変わるダイナミズムが機能した瞬間であり、集まった人と、作品とその背景について、膝を突き合わせて話し合う親密な時間だった。しかも演目はメキシコで民衆文化運動として壁画運動の一翼を担った画家ディエゴ・リベラと、彼のマチスモ（男性優位主義）に悩まされながらも、独自の絵画世界をひらき、自らも自由に交友関係を結んで自律的に生きたフリーダの葛藤について描いたもので、A.I.R.の運動にも響き合う内容を含んでいた。さらにディエゴやフリーダのことを知らなくとも、観客にメキシコの文化への関心を呼び起こすなど、さまざまな契機になったのではないかと思います。
事前の許可申請、あるいは東京都の場合、「ヘブンアーティスト」という免許（ライセンス）制!?のもとに管理が進む公園。もっとのびのびと路上演劇もパーフォーマンスも上演していけたら、息苦しさがやわらいで、もう少し息が楽にできるようになるのではないか、そう実感しました。
そして、ふたりの若い俳優、アレハンドラとロドリゴは、宮下公園で上演できたことをとても喜び、感謝の気持ちを伝えてほしい、そして引き続き支援したいと伝言を残してくれました。
